Having always loved working with children I have spent most of my life helping in any way that I can.  I have a wonderful loving husband and 3 adult children and 2 grandsons.  I attended Westside freewill baptist church for over a year now. Having a family with special needs I have learned alot about how to help others  stay calm and the ability to help  teach those who have difficulty learning a specific way.  I have been a Girl Scout leader/co leader for 12+ years and currently have 3 troops in the Sapulpa/Kellyville area. It brings me great joy to see the faces of the next generation light up when they discover new things or they accomplish something they didn't think was possible.

Hello, I am Yvonne Mears and I taught fourth graders at Lone Star School for thirty-six years. During my teaching I was honored to be Lone Star Teacher of the year, Creek County Teacher of the year, and Walmart Teacher of the year.

The students not only learned all the required goals, but they also learned how to learn, how to do their best, to show respect for themselves and other, and to be proud of themselves and their achievements. I have worked with the Lone Star 4-H program, supervised the school's facts masters and globe masters programs, headed the Improvement Plan for the school, and worked the basketball games.

I have participated in other activities such as: the four and five year old music program and Vacation Bible School at church, member of a bowling team, member of the Sapulpa Satoma group and worked their bingo games, and volunteered at nursing home.

I work part-time at Walmart, part-time at H&R block, and own a ballroom dance studio in Tulsa. I am a member and treasurer of the Creek County OHCE.

I truly enjoy working with children. I try to help them learn and reach further than even they think possible. By working with children, it is just one small way I can make our future better. All the children are very intelligent and gifted. They can learn and become anything in life they choose. They are truly our future and a great blessing from God.
